Delete your data
Last updated
Baby Name A-Z has no accounts, no sign-up, and no password. You are never asked for your name, email address or phone number. Deletion is built into the app, takes one tap, and does not require you to contact us or wait for a reply.
Delete everything held in the cloud
In the app: Settings → Delete my cloud data
This runs immediately and permanently removes:
- Your anonymous account itself
- Every like and pass you recorded while connected to a partner
- Your matches and head-to-head comparisons
- Any invitation you created, used or received
- Any name you suggested to your partner
- Any culture or language request you sent us
- Your notification registration and any pending or delivered notification records
- Your membership of any connected couple
Nothing is archived, retained for analytics, or kept in a backup copy for later use.
If you are connected to a partner, their own likes and matches belong to them and are not deleted by your request. Their copy of the shared shortlist remains until they delete it themselves. Everything of yours is removed either way.
Delete everything held on your device
In the app: Settings → Reset all local data
This clears your surname, your shortlist, your filters, your saved order, and your analytics preference from the phone. The name catalogue is part of the app itself and is removed when you uninstall.
Deleting the app
Uninstalling Baby Name A-Z removes all local data with it.
If you have already uninstalled
Please read this before emailing us, because we would rather tell you the truth than take a request we cannot fulfil.
Your account is anonymous by design. It carries no email address, username or phone number, and the only key to it was stored inside the app on your device. When you uninstalled, that key was destroyed. This means we have no way to identify which data was yours, and neither does anyone else — including us, our staff and anyone who might ever compel us.
We cannot honour a deletion request for an uninstalled app, because we cannot tell your data from anyone else's. What remains is a small set of records tied to a random identifier with no personal information attached to it.
Two things that do work:
- Reinstall, then delete. Reinstalling gives you a new anonymous account, so this only helps if you still have the phone you originally used and the app's data was not cleared by the uninstall. Try Settings → Delete my cloud data first.
- Ask your partner to disconnect. If you used couple sync, either partner choosing Settings → Disconnect partner deletes the shared couple record, all likes held against it, all invitations and all pending notifications — for both of you.
The reliable route is to delete before you uninstall. The app never requires an account, so there is nothing to close and nothing to remember a password for.
What we never collect
We do not collect your name, email address, postal address, phone number, location, contacts, photos, calendar, files, messages, browsing history, search history or financial information. We do not use an advertising identifier. We do not sell data.
Analytics are off unless you switch them on, and never include any name you view, like or save.
